Maharashtra Gramin Bank (MGB) is a Regional Rural Bank operating across Maharashtra with extensive outreach in Rural, Semi Urban & Urban areas. Despite being an RRB, the Bank offers a wide range of services comparable to those provided by Public Sector and Private Sector Banks. Its primary objective is to support the overall economic development and upliftment of the people of Maharashtra by extending financial assistance to key sectors such as agriculture, micro, small and medium enterprises, education, housing, micro-credit, and weaker sections. Today, the Bank has a strong presence across Maharashtra, with over 750 branches, 13 regional offices, and its Head Office located at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, serving more than 1 crore satisfied customers.

History

As per the instructions from the Ministry of Finance, Government of India; the 'One State, One Regional Rural Bank' policy is implemented across the country. In the state of Maharashtra, erstwhile Maharashtra Gramin Bank (Sponsor Bank: Bank of Maharashtra) and erstwhile Vidarbha Konkan Gramin Bank (Sponsor Bank: Bank of India) amalgamated and a new entity in the name of ‘Maharashtra Gramin Bank’ has been formed with effect from 01.05.2025.

With this amalgamation, the service area of ‘Maharashtra Gramin Bank’ is now expanded across the state of Maharashtra. The Head Office of the new amalgamated entity is at Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar & the sponsor bank of new amalgamated entity is ‘Bank of Maharashtra’.

Developing the rural economy by providing, for the purpose of development of agriculture, trade, commerce, industry and other productive activities in the rural areas, credit and other facilities, particularly to the small and marginal farmers, agricultural labourers, artisans and small entrepreneurs and for matters connected therewith and incidental thereto.

Positioning the Bank in a competitive market by adopting IT solutions, providing basic services to mass population at their doorstep, adopt effective IT models to deliver those services, increase flow of credit to agriculture, to achieve a quantum jump in savings bank deposit mobilization and pursue the best practices for delivering the value added service to our customers by transforming the branches into the most preferred banking outlet in rural areas.
